Returned from a google search, THIS site shows Dutch Lights as a shape of greenhouse (with sizes), many other glass related websites refer to the phrase, but seemingly in relation to size of glass sheet....

The standard Dutch Light is 28 3/4" x 56" (730mm x 1422 mm). Both greenhouses I have use half Dutch Lights as their main bits of glass. They are available as standard from most glaziers as horticultural glass.

For example:

I've never used polycarb, so I'll let someone who can give you a comparison answer that.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I saw other sizes mentioned, DD. I presume then, they are non-standard?

There's only one size of Dutch Light, anything different and it's not a Dutch Light!

I've found a polycarb one:

Polycarbonate Dutch Light

My first greenhouse over 40 years ago was a standard construction from half Dutch Lights. It was only 6' x 4' but I extended it to 12' x 4', buying the wood and glass from scratch, so I've a bit of working knowledge (including glass cutting!) of Dutch Lights.

I seem to remember any cold frames with a single piece of glass on top were called Dutch lights.....presumably it is the the size of the piece of glass that makes it 'Dutch' or 'half Dutch'.

We had sheets of glass in a wooden frame that leant against the garden wall, these were also called Dutch lights  :)
