Title: Old hand sewing machines...
Post by: hayles62 on January 12, 2007, 08:28
I got one on Freecycle and so have a couple of my mates perfectly good for a bit of straight sewing and they do leather and heavy duty fabrics, I have an electric one for the fancy stuff but love the old thing also can take it out and repair my boys Land Rover canveses..
I find them great for teaching kids to sew too as the foot peddle on the electric one runs away with them sometimes, plus the temptation to go over the speed limit is taken away.

It'll be useful when all this electricery stuff runs out too Hayles!  I've got a hand operated food processor and of course my trusty wind up radio and a few other things 'just in case'!!!! lol
