My new hybrids
« on: May 05, 2010, 22:04 »
So I have had the girls for over 24 hours, but they still don't have names yet! I let them out this morning and it took them quite a while to go into the run and then they have been in and out all day. They are quite nervous today but I'm really not surprised - they have gone from the tranquil Cheshire countryside to the centre of a market town... lots of new sounds to get used to! They also haven't eaten a lot - they turned their noses up at the kitchen scraps I boiled up for them and have left quite a lot of the pellets, but again I'm guessing that's settling in nerves - will see how they go tomorrow.

Then there's my dog... at first she got very exited and jumped up with her paws on the run trying to get to them....and got squirted in the face with a spray gun! She is now giving them a very wide berth and appears to be jealous of them rather than wanting to hurt them. Everytime I tried to talk to the chickens she either lays down in the "submit" pose right in front of the run or sits very close leaning on my leg or tries to jump up and lick my face! But am feeling postive she isn't going to try to commit murder!

Thank you! :D

All food wolfed down today and far braver! They already seem like different chickens, so given a couple of days I'm sure their little personalities will shine out.
