Yuk, fried bread is bad enough can't imagine it with marmalade . Marmalade on fresh bread now we're talking.

Not a reeely old fave, but I'm just sat here eating a really ripe mango & that is quite an old fave back from when I visited the West Indies when I was 21. I know it seems almost impossible to believe that I'm not 21 but go on try

Growster and I have history in the construction industry - the greasy spoon café is like a second home  recently I've been working on the London Bridge Redevelopment and the highlight of a day on site is the brunch in the Costains canteen mid morning.

Actually, better still, a bacon butty from the chuck wagon near BandQ in Southampton!

Very, very welcome after a 5.00am start and a three hour drive..;0)

Not surprisingly I used to love a full English which you simply can't have without fried bread.  :tongue2: The greasy spoon I liked used to deep fat fry everything (same oil) and it was sooo good the morning after the night before  ::) No it wasn't a place for veggy people, in fact I think they probably buttered the toast with beef dripping  :D

At home it would only be fried on 1 side in a smidge of fat (never as good).  Much as I yearn for a dead pig and fungus sandwich, nowadays anything fried is very rarely on the menu  :(
