I got my plot today but the road down to it is terrible, not even walkable , don't know how I'm gonna get stuff down there and i'm told I need planning permission for a shed...I'm depressed :-( Here's a pic of the actual plot 1/2 acre.

I would love a Tractor, I used to drive one, I like the little orchard tractors the Americans  have.

When we were in Corfu many years back before it became too popular. the locals had rotovators with extended handles and wheels instead of the tines. They attached a trailor and took the entire family to town on them on Friday night. I sang as they passed by "Get your motor running..."

Looks like you've got enough room to plough using a pair of Shire horses there!

Hi Hayles
Good points:
1. It's big!
2. If it is a bit isolated there's less chance of vandals.
3. It looks fairly flat.
4. It isn't covered in brambles, bindweed, mare's tail and all the other weeds we know and love.
Who owns the road? Is it a public right of way? If the council own it or it is a public right of way then it should be kept in a resonable condition and you can start creating about it. DH is a highways engineer and could give you the relevant bits of legislation to quote at them if need be.
There's also health and safety issues. If they expect you to walk along it to get to your plot and you fall and hurt yourself, they are responsible if it isn't considered safe. I can see the £££££s already....
Planning permission for sheds is pretty standard. It depends whether or not you have to pay a fee or just need someone to sign a form. It used to be £90 around here, thankfully they've waived that but you still need to get approval.
Good luck!
