love this new harvest
« on: November 09, 2010, 07:45 »
when I topped my plot with manure this september, I sprayed some leftover seeds (cress and mustard) from a BeeQ salad pack bought over a year ago. Those were supposedly indoor ones but I thought they would do a good green manure.
But on sunday morning When I visited the plot. I saw both patches lush green and inviting. Cant hold myself and picked mustard leaves for meal. blitzed it and cooked it with onions, ginger/garlic/chilli/cumin seeds crush.
had it with flat bread made of corn flour.
that was a wonderful meal.
now mustard leaves are on my list next year as a fallow crop (but We will eat it  :))

P.S.: the cress is very peppery and I dont know whether I can cook it. They are a lot for salad though.  :)
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

sounds lovely. Yum  :)

If you can't eat it all you can turn it in in spring

they are not quite tall at all. (dont understand what's mean by PM)
mustards were about 6 inches tall and cress were about 3 inches.
I clipped mustards about an inch from the ground leaving the root. and cooked the whole (ground to paste in mixer) picking.
