Title: plastic flower container with a plastic type gauze a few inches from the bottom
Post by: mrs bouquet on June 18, 2023, 10:27
what is the purpose of this, and do i just tip the multi purpose in as usual.  Does it mean I do not need a saucer under - never seen this before.   Thanks,   Mrs Bouquet

It will be a reservoir for water.  Underneath there are probably cone shapes extending up with drainage holes in the top.  If the reservoir fills right up, water will still drain out through these so you will need a saucer if you are worried about marking slabs.  Not if you were just using it as a reservoir.

The alternative drainage method is small holes around the side above the mesh level.

Thank you, yes there are cones beneath the gauze.  I have now planted it up and put a saucer under as a precaution.   Mrs B

I've had to read this twice.  I thought it was plastic flowers in a container and then wondered why you were adding compost!  ::)
