So...... who has a spare bator that I can borrow then :(
Too many eggs...... too may orders...... not enough bators :(
Seriously though, if anyone close to Farnham/Aldershot has a spare bator for a good use... please let me know :)
-
You obviously need a bigger one Choockie!! :D :D
-
Wow.... thats a beast :)
I did consider buying an ova easy but the one I could afford was able to hold less than the 6 bators I have at the moment..... and I thought if it were to break, then thats it!!!
Also I am able to reduce easily I suppose if I decide not to hatch so much at some point :)
What is that one.... Is it yours :tongue2:

I know what you mean Chookie! Yes it is ours, it is the one we bought from China last summer, but I could do with a small one too for when I've only got a few silkie and araucana eggs.
But everyone on here knows my Brian, he only deals in BIG! It takes 264 eggs and is useful if we are doing meat birds, but when you think of the price we get the day olds and the price of the eggs, there is only 15p difference in them. Then you think well they are in the incubator for 3 weeks with all that electric..... so probably works out cheaper to get the day olds.
But its got 3 trays, so I put eggs onto one tray, then 6 days later the next tray and another 6 days the last tray, so this last lot of hatchings went well. The araucanas were 95-100% hatch rate and the Exchequer Leghorns about the same.
Did you manage to borrow another incubator yet?

Hoping to get a little octogon 20 this weekend.... and the r com 20 pro is hatching at the mo.... that just leaves three ,a hovabator (boo) and a covatutto to go..... then i can fill them all up again :)
I have a book of back orders for the quail that you would not believe :(
-
What do people do with quail? They are so tiny! :D
-
Good on a skewer :)
I think they are the poor mans chook...... if you dont have the space for chooks then have quail instead :)
Beats me really..... they are not particularly tame.... they are not particularly entertaining.... they scalp each other on a scarily regular basis......
Have I sold them to you yet!!!
But I am not complaining..... its not many chickens that you can sex at three weeks.... sell at four and may come into lay at six!!!!
-
How long do they Live for cc? I only want one....just a little girlie for quincy. I might try and hatch one. :tongue2:
Sorry for being an idiot, but do they play nice together, or gotta keep cockbirds apart?
-
Well the girls about 3/4 years the males 4/5 :)
Males get nasty.... girls get raped contsantly..... you need about 4 girls to have a peaceful life with a male :)
-
males live together? or fight?
-
I will sell the males to live together if no girls around...... I also keep little batchelor couples in the shed with the breeding females.... mine are ok at the mo, but fights can and will break out at times.....
But then again they will fight hen on hen and hen on cock and cock on cock..... they are really not fussy..... just mean :(
BUT most of the time they are just fine :)
The trouble begins when you have people who have three hens and a dozen cocks.... then the hens get raped and beaten half to death... and the cocks fight for who can do the raping and when there are no hens they rape each other!!
Not doing Parkside quail any favours really am I?? ;)
