silly question i know but our pods are all fat  and look ready but when i pick them some are ready and other are not.
the only way i can tell which to pick is to hold them ujp to the sun to see thru the pod,  :blink:

basically that's all you can do or gently pinch the pod to feel the peas inside.

Strangely, I give the pod a bit of a shake and those that are ready make no sound, whereas you can hear the pod sides touch the peas if the peas are really small

I know that sounds silly, but it werks fer me

If you see a ridge on the pod rather than being smooth the peas inside will be fat. Personally I like them smaller they are a lot sweeter than when they get to full size.
I also cook them in the microwave with a knob of butter one min for enough peas for two persons is ok.

when the pods look fat enough I open one and taste  simples

Pick a pod you think is ready and look at it with the sun or a light behind it - just to get an idea.
