Tomato plants

Hi,do I need to protect Tomato plants from slugs and snails?I've never planted them on the allotment before.They are quite large  :unsure:

I asked the exact same question of my neighbour the other day (50 years' allotment experience) and he said no. Still I gave a little protection just in case. Certainly when they're large and established you don't need to bother anymore.

You have no need to bother about the plants.

When to bottom trusses get heavy with fruit, and they touch the ground, that's when the problems occur.

Just don't let them touch the ground and for the whole of the tomato season, you have no need of any slug pellets.
