Hi guys

A guy at the lottie today told me I needed to be registered with Defra for my chickens?  is this true and whats the reasons behind this and how do i register and does that come with any complications?

You do need to register with 50 birds or more. You can voluntarily register with less if you want :)

i was told not that log ago it was only if u had 50 birds as well.

i don't think i want to register with Defra, i haven't forgotton when they were MAFF and came and killed all our sheep and lambs and my pet cow Elliemay, because the farmer next door (at least a mile away) got foot and mouth (ours didn't have the disease but were a dangerous contact) if he get's a notifiable bird disease, that's all my birds gone!

Would you get into serious trouble if you didnt register? also how would they find out if you had more than 50? do they send people round to check?

it includes all birds in that 50 whether they are chickens, ducks, geese etc or any combination of them.
Staffies are softer than you think.

I registered when  it first came out, as I had over 50, it also includes quails.

25 laying hens (not naming them all) and Elwood, Rodney Cassandra and Raquel, Eddie, peetree, William and Anri Paul, Leroy, Kate, Boone, Sawyer and Hurley, Pumpkin, Frodo, Tina, Fifi Winnie, Alan and the other 3 polands that have yet to be named, Boycie, Marlene, Del boy, Trigger and Denzil, and finally newly hatched no name still in the incy,  omg 53............. have i missed anyone?
