All Top No Bottom
« on: August 10, 2009, 14:46 »
The garden has been rotavated this year after being cleared of weeds, brambles and such. I planed, Beetroot, Carrots, Swede, Onion and Shallots and although the tops look wonderful there is very little or even nothing on the roots. Thinking back I did use well rotted manure which I rotavated in could that be the cause?

Good evening Ian and welcome to the site.  When were these seeds/sets sown?

Welcome to the site Ian  :D

I'll move you across to the Grow Your Own section but feel free to pop back and tell us a bit more about yourself  ;)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I'd have though the beetroot should be showing something The ones I sowed in May, I've been lifting for a few weeks now. Probably a bit early for the others to have developed.

The onions and shallots are a bit late going in, mine were planted in March, but they should make something.

When you say "planted", were these from seeds, sets or modues?

The manure should do no harm, apart from to the carrots as they can fork on freshly manured soil, although you will still be able to eat them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
