Last year I was given some celery plants I put them in but it was to late in the season and they did nothing, however when I went to clear the bed I found that they had started again ,well on the way in fact . will they be edible ?

They'll be edible, as in non-poisonous, but they may be tough & stringy.

Only one way to find out!

Even if they're tough and/or trying to bolt, they'll probably still be OK chopped to go in soups and stews.

I've been told if they grow again they are alright but bolt quick.  I think they arebienniel or something but don't quote me on that.

Although once you get some new ones going I cut and come again them rather than take up the whole plant.  Thats for self blanching I assume other celery is the same.
