Hello all,
I planted out my tom plants afew days ago, have been away for 5 days and have come back to dry, crispy leaves. The top narrower leaves don't seem to be affected but the lower are either drying in patches or all completely shriveled and crisp. They are discolored too, brown and white. Could anyone tell me what the main differences between blight and scorched leaves? Also if the leaves are just scorched is it still worth taking them off?

blight usually shows signs of fungal disease (sometimes grey and furry) rings around the brown bits on leaves and stems or black patches.
Have a look here for some pictures of tomato problems, but don't get scared...most of them are rare

You`ve planted them out much too early, they are now suffering from scorch. Rather than repotting them, get some fleece and put over them. All is not lost.

thanks to you both, very helpful links there MOS, I think I am safe from blight and as you say David have just not protected them enough. Fingers crossed they will survive, they are still looking very sad and also turning purple!
