Santa came a week early....
« on: December 18, 2009, 14:46 »
... and dropped this off for me, via a neighbour who thought that donkeys feet should be done maybe, once a year >:(

look at their poor little feet, well little-ish

Marechal supposed to come today but it snowed so she is coming Tuesday instead ;)
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

You've got the beginnings of another Nativity Scene there, we had a donkey walking through the village last night as people acted out the Christmas Story.

So glad they've come to live with you cos you will have their feet sorted and love them to bits!

Go slowly at getting their feet back to normal. Trauma from severe treatment can be nasty.  It took our farrier 10 weeks at weekly visits to slowly get Hope's back to normal.  (We bought Hope from Reading Auctions and we were the only ones to bid for her. We got this bag of skin and bone home and then realised she was in foal, and gave birth to Charity three months later).

I am very lucky as the Marechal is lovely. She did wonders with Picasso, who, if you remember had a twisted piedal bone >:(  I have also to take some poo for analysis as it seems he NEVER wormed them either  this will obviously have to be done slowly too. One of my friends that is part of the charity I support lost one of her horses this year to colic caused by worming that killed all larvae that was buried into the intestines, the wormer acted too quickly and the gut couldnt repair quickly enough. It was a tragedy. I have probably got thise a*** uppards but you get the gist. Many experienced horse people learnt a very valuable lesson this summer I can tell you.

Anyway, these donkeys are just lovely, I am going out today to introduce head collars to them   first time they will have seen a head collar in their 20 odd years ::) wish me luck :)

Beautiful donkeys (or gonkeys as I used to call them when I was little - I couldn't say 'd'!!)

You really are such a wonderful person Jells to take in all the waifs and strays that you do.... I admire you immensely!
