Title: Greenhouse Construction
Post by: Big Stev3 on April 27, 2012, 06:24
Morning All,

I'm hoping to build my greenhouse this weekend (weather permitting). Is it best to build the frame and put the glass in on the same day or will the frame be alrite without glass for a day or two?

Kind Regards
Steve

I didn't manage mine all in one day, that's for sure

There's not much wind resistance without the glass, so it should be alright, but I wouldn't want to stop with only half the glass in- I think that'd be a bit risky.

A bare frame doesn't offer much wind resistance so will be fine, especially as of course you will have fixed it securely to whatever base you are using after making sure it is 100% square and true (hint!  ;))

Not a great idea to do the glazing on a windy day, and an even worse idea to leave it half-glazed if strong winds are forecast.

mine was half glazed for a couple of weeks, but I did worry about it! It was in a fairly sheltered spot but I had a few sleepless nights.

Of course the week after it got glazed it got really windy, so I'm glad I finished it when I did!
