Had to loose another one of my darling girls today 

my little cass - she started laying just shells a few weeks ago , been treating her with vets advice but no luck , this morning we decided to let her go

she joins my little Feather and Poppet who we lost in recent months ( big sigh ) the box looks so empty tonight

I'm down to 6 now , maybe get some new ones next spring

She looks lovely in that picture. It is so hard when we loose a hen because we get so attached to them. But I always remind myself that they have good lives when they are with us.

Oh Barley, so sorry to hear this    Its horrible when they go one after another 

Cass looks like a partridge dottie - I lost all 3 of mine (elderly sisters) over the winter and spring, all within a few months of one another 

Cass had a lovely chicken life with you, as did Feather and Poppet, so don't feel too bad.  I've seen the pictures of them sharing sandwiches with your OH - spoiled - nah never 

I'm thinking about a couple of new girls this autumn.  Spring is too long for me to wait

Sorry to hear about Cass. Hens are such characters and much more intelligent than non-chicken-owners would imagine. I can imagine how you miss her.
