Title: Frelon!! We woz robbed!!
Post by: elibump on July 31, 2009, 07:28
Went to do usual inspection of the bees yesterday.  Firstly the Gaffer killed a frelon (hornet?) which was eating one of our bees  .  Then the bees themselves got all grumpy as we tried to inspect  :tongue2: :tongue2: so we had to close the hive and leave them to it.  Later couldn't help noticing far too much activity around the hive so checked and loads of fighting going on and bees entering the hive but without pollen so, obviously a robbing expedition   .  Following instructions in the book we blocked off loads of the entrance to the hive and soaked a bedsheet to cover the hive.  Things seem calmer this morning.

Any further advice on what we should have done/ should do??

Thanks
Eli xx

No idea.  There isn't another hive around here so must be wild bees, I think.
