greenhouses must be like buses!!!
« on: March 27, 2011, 20:35 »
Hi everyone!

Not so long ago I posted about my excitement of getting a greenhouse, was worried it wouldn't fit onto my plot but found I could just get it to fit. Well, I have since moved plots and I am now the proud owner of TWO GREENHOUSES!!!! I have a lovely 6x8 and my original 8x12!!!! All this time of waiting and two come along at once!

Now Im not being greedy, I did see if I could take the 6x8 down to give to somemone else on the site but it is concreted in that solidly, nothing will move it (without completely destroying my plot)so have decided to have that one as my seedlings and potting greenhouse and the big one with full beds in to maximise growing space!

Any tips for successful greenhouse growing and management?

Well, there's no real right or wrong for how to grow in a greenhouse, that's what makes them so popular I think!

What would you like to grow?  It's much easier to offer advice if you have some sort of idea of what to grow in there?

Some plants will grow perfectly well in pots on staging, some prefer growbags, and some will thrive in proper beds.

Maximising your space is one thing that in my opinion you must do.  I'm of the opinion (probably outnumbered here!) that a greenhouse should be for plants, not empty pots and tools, so my greenhouse has lots of staging and room for growbags, and only a small work area, as I try and do all my potting etc in the shed or outside on a sunny day.

Apart from that, it all depends on what you want to grow!  Have a look through these forums, plenty of people have put up pictures of there greenhouses, maybe you could get some inspiration from them.

Thanks, I was hoping to grow a few different types of tomatoes, chilli's, peppers, cucumbers and maybe aubergines.
