Leaf Cutting Bees

I've only seen Bumblebees cut holes in runner beans for nectar, here, didn't know cutter bees did as well. Every day's a schoolday

runner beans.......bumblebees with short tongues (eg Bombus locurum  and B. terrestris) rarely enter the flowers but obtain nectar through holes they bite in the corolla tubes

The cutter bees here only seem to cut semi-circles from the edges of just one (same variety every year  ) of my rose bushes.

I used to love seeing the patterns they made on my parents' rosebushes too
