can i put a 5 horsepower engine on a3hp machine?

hi i have a merry tiller major with a 3hp Briggs and stratton engine and would like to know if i chose to could i install a 5hp Briggs and stratton engine or anything bigger to the same mounting holes?

the engine on my baby is not the original as there are other holes drilled for fixing.

just make sure its dead centre.
