Post by: mitzygolf on June 28, 2021, 20:15
Hi, I have just acquired a 1954 month tiller Mk 2. My question is via run it on unleaded petrol or will I have to use an additive.
Thanks

Hello the simple answer is itl cost about £6.50  or what ever a gallon of petrol costs to convert,it will need 2 stroke oil, just cant remember whether those tillers have a separate tank on the end of the petrol tank for the oil  it if its mixed in a can   jezza

I thought it was 4 stoke. Or is the oil to replace the lead in the petrol?

Hello they made them in both 2 and 4 stroke up to 1954  then they were all 4 strokes, check to see if it has a sump plug if it has its a 4 stroke, when the leaded  to unleaded change  came in LRP ( Lead replacement petrol)was recommended  that wad phased out old machinery didn't seem to notice, I run a 1965 Ransomes mower with a J,A,P Engine it gave a couple of hiccups  when the two patrols mixed then ran with no problems apart from a pinking now and again if it's on Liquid Petroleum Gas it never falters    jezza
