Has anyone used a grow light to get an early start?  When do I start?

I can't find much advice on the internet (unless I want to grow my own marijuana!)

Thanks.

Hi SusieB

Yes, i use grow lights to start seedlings off earlier so they reach a good size before i can plant them out. I set up my system this week and started off with peppers and chillis. This year I'll be pruning them repeatedly to encourage them to become bushier which will mean planting a little later than last year. Aubergines next month and tomatoes end of February.

Can i suggest you use the search engine in top RH corner to search for many discussions that have been had re growlights. If you're prepared to sift through a lot of rubbish on utube you'll find some that will likely prove very helpful.

Grow lights for early germination;
Blow away on NE facing terrace for hardening off;
Small potager 90sq.m at 300metres
No-dig method, intensive planting and incorporating permaculture principles.
