homemade drip feeders?
« on: March 06, 2010, 10:28 »
is it possible to make a homemade drip feeder using a plastic bottle with a hole in the top?
has anyone tried this?
do you think it would work for container veg?

Don't know about completely home made...but I bought some of those thingies that you screw on the end and then sink in the soil........from either the poundshop or wilko.

They were very cheap .....I don't do expensive

Be interested to know if they work and how long they last as we are away for 3.5 weeks in May and I have no one to look after my garden so am worried about anything in containers.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

You need to make a hole in the lid, where the water will then seep out, and not screw the lid on too tight, other wise the water just doesn't come out.

The little gadgets MoS mentioned are excellent  :D

What did I do wrong with those little spike things then? I'd fill up the bottle screw the spike in, invert the bottle and shove it in the ground and then the water glugged out at the speed of a foundry worker downing his first beer after a hot shift
