Latah & other bush toms ID pics
« on: July 17, 2011, 13:05 »
This came up a few days ago as some have found their crop not quite as described this year, so got busy with the phone today on the plot and took some pics.

All these were sown on 10th April.  The Latah and Lettuce Leaf are last years seeds.  The Black Sea Man is from a seed swap with a forum member from Oz.

Latah plant and close up of fruit - very sprawling . You can see my 2 Lettuce Leaf plants in the background to compare growth habits.

Lettuce Leaf - much more compact but just a bit behind Latah

The Ozzie oddity Black Sea Man - big plant and big toms for a bush variety.  Bit excited to see how these turn out  :D  I've got a Blue Lake climbing french bean growing up the plant which is the purple stems you can see

If thats how latah are meant to be well they look like mine, I thought going by the description that they should be 1" fruit but yours look bigger than that ? even if mine are not correct they are very nice and I am now starting to get regular fruit.

If you fancy a swap or you would like to trade toms for squash seeds let me know as I would be very interested in the Black Sea Man tomato.

Assuming it tastes OK   I am going to save seeds from the Black Sea Man, so hopefully will have spares for swapsies Kevin.  I like both the Latah and the Lettuce Leaf - classic cherry tom sweet/sharp tang  :)

Glad you are happy now your Latah are OK.  I'd say they are a bit bigger than 1" and even though they are sprawly beasties, they are super early so well worth growing.

You'll be OK for toms with 6 Latah plants Kevin  :)  Yours look undercover and are ahead of mine by a few weeks  :D

I'm on Oakleigh Rd Caversham Brewers.  You can amend your profile to include your location and that gives everyone else an idea on your local growing conditions if you ask for advice  ;)  :)
