freezing cake???

As you know I'm having a goodbye party for my son shortly. Am trying to organise my self (joke!!) and wondering if I make and bake a chocolate sponge, would I be able to freeze it before it is decorated??

Whenever I get a glut of eggs aggi, I always make spnge cakes and stick em in the freezer for non glut days!!!! I just don't put any fillings in until it is defrosted

We always freeze cakes make a big batch for the week etc, choc sponge always seems to taste better and moister after freezing.

I make birthday cakes for friends and family and always make the cake in advance. Normally I make a batch and then shape a cake whilst still frozen as it's easier to carve out. The only thing you can't do is freeze the filling.
