not sure if im posting this in the right bit but here goes! i was wondering if anyone has any of those self opening greenhouse window things! i have seen them for around 25quid but dont know how good they are or how they work? do they require a power suply etc? any comments are appreciated! thanks in advance massa.

as i heard it is operated on some fluid inside (gas i assume) which expands at certain temperature causing the vent to open and the lower the temperature it closes automatically by contracting.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

and sorry for multi posting, but if you have money then it is worth spending 25 quid extra rather than sitting at office and wondering whether you opened the vent on a day like today or in worst case, burn all your plants

yeah it would prob save me money in time and petrol going to open and close he window each day! are they reliable?

I think they ought to be. but please wait for people to respond. and they advice that you disconnect the vent from the (ie make it manual) from the first frost onwards.

The B&Q openers work well , there is wax in the cylinders which expands and pushes the window open.
Saves the plants from getting cooked, well worth the money. :)

and yes hard frosts do kill the cylinders if you leave them on overwinter.

I have one on one of my greenhouses. Its been on there for at least 8 years and is still working fine. It has never been disconnected in all that time.

I think it is the type made by 'Jempair' (sp?).
