Cancer Fund Raising
« on: October 10, 2019, 15:27 »
Many of you will know that I volunteer often at St. Barnabas Hospice near Worthing.  The latest that involved me was the "South Downs Marathon Trek"
I was at the finish for the day giving out medals, sparkly wine, fruit, cake and directing people to the massages, along with taking 'photos of finishers etc.    It was a long day, I was there for 7.5 hours.  Hard on my feet, but not as hard for these who trekked 26 miles through the mud, up hills and down dales.
Today I have been told that all the pledges are on track, and at the moment the event has raised over £43,000, this sounds like a lot, but in fact covers 5 days of all care services to patients and their families.

The atmosphere was wonderful from both trekkers and volunteers, and the weather was kind, although quite windy.      I know I bang on about fund raising, and I know how busy you all are.    But please find time to make some sort of contribution, it maybe doing knitted toys, or wood turning, but it all raises vital funds.        Regards and Thanks to you all.     Mrs Bouquet

You've got a good soul, or should it be sole - ha! I hate throwing out anything that could be useful to others more in need so I donate unwanted stuff to our St. John's hospice and also give my dear neighbour's daughter the clothes I don't need and she gives them to a homeless charity.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Good evening mrs bouquet,

I have ocular melanoma, in other words eye cancer.  One of only 5/6 per million,  where do I apply for a few bob?

Cheers a very tongue in cheek Tony. :D
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

At least you've kept a sense of humour! Hope they can sort your eye out for you.
