Lolla Rossa is looseleaf lettuce, so I'm confused  ???

There's Red Salad Bowl - but they're pretty much the same thing.

This year I'm growing Amaze for the first time (from DT Brown) and I'm really impressed with them. They're the prettiest lettuces I've ever grown, really nice deep red colour with a tinge of green, taste nice too. The ones I've grown are much more red that the pictures of them on all the seed sites. They're supposed to be like a red Little Gem but mine are coming out more loose leaf. Or maybe I'm just being impatient and lifting them too early :)

I like Bronze Arrowhead from Real Seeds.   You can either leave it to mature or use it as a cut and come again lettuce.  Starts off green, but turns a red / bronze as it matures.

Are red lettuce types less open to slug attack?

Mind you, red veg against slugs doesn't always mean you are safe from slugs - my beetroot leaves keep getting nibbled!

It is interesting.  My red and green salad bowl hasn't been affected by the slugs or flea beetle which has turned the radish leaves into net curtains next door.  Not sure why this is the case, but I'm not complaining.  Until sowing this variety, I found it impossible to grow salads as the rocket was being destroyed by the flea beetle.
