A tunnell made from the blue water pipe you can get from Wicks etc. We have brought some today along with some bamboo canes, we inted to cover with netting or enviromesh and grow our cabbage, cauli, swede in. I am trying to explain to my husband what I have in mind but he dont get what I am trying to explain. Thanks in anticipation. Mandy.

you hire a dwarf

-
it looks like you could get a good supply of netting off the flats kris when it comes down ,
with permission of course :)
-
The one with the wooden rail along the top can be lifted, the others i just roll back the netting as i use old metal scaffold pole's to hold it all down
-
They didn't let one bit go to the allotments i think they got the hump with people asking for it. We got a roll from ebay.
-
Thank you once again RangerKris, you are a star. Mandy.

Its scaffold netting see your local builders and see if you can get some for free :D
-
does it keep away the carrot fly?
-
I don't think so, you need enviromesh for that.
-
Not done carrots yet this year will be my first. I did think if a double layer of mesh for carrots. The blue is just scaffold netting from flea bay.
-
I have seen the same picture so many times now -I wonder - is this protection against groundhogs perhaps?
-
Ok Ok Ben i was having problems Ok :tongue2:
-
Sorry Rangerkris - I could not resist it. You have done more than I have - I have never got round to posting a picture.
-
No problems, sleep with one eye open tonight ;) I only had problems with the new windows 7 on my home puter but its all sorted now.
-
I used enviromesh for the carrots and scaffold netting for everything else ;)
-
Is the blue piping expensive?
-
MDPE pipe at Wicks is 84p a meter. I hope this is the right stuff because I am off to get mine tomorrow.
-
I know I have seen an article on this in Kitchen Garden a few months ago and we are planning to exactly the same and cover with netting to keep the pesky pigeons off. We are in Oz at the moment but I will look it up when we get home and post the details .
-
Not paid for any of the pipe yet, its all been donated or swapped. We had a new water main fitted at work and there was a few meters left over.
-
Gday Barbarella, I brought mine from wicks it is MDPE blue waterpipe 20mmx25m it cost £15.31. Hope you are enjoying your holiday you lucky thing. Regards Mandy.

Not lucky Mandy, sick relly I'm afraid, though normally Victoria, Australia is my idea of heaven.
TOH thinks he might be able to salvage some discarded bits at work, but if not we know where to go. Thanks for that.

You are very welcome.
