Splits in my tommys

Hi all, whats the main cause of splits in tommys, I found one today, hope i can save them .....

Hi Paul - if the splits are in the actual tomatoes (and not the stems of the plant) the most probable reason is uneven watering. If tomatoes dry out and are then watered they are inclined to split - so you need to ensure regular watering.

I echo Springlands advice. You really do need to maintain regular watering for toms. If they dry out a bit too much then you water, they'll split as you've found out. They could also develop blossom end rot, a big black spot at the base of the toms and wastes a lot of valuable 'meat' space.
