Title: Apple Crushers
Post by: Digger the Dog on August 03, 2017, 08:51
Is there any reason or has anyone tried using a Garden Shredder to produce the apple pulp before it goes into a Press?

I am assuming that the Shredder will not have had anything else put through it before it is used to produce Pulp :)

All depends on the shredder. The one I have now was brilliant cut in half only. Some smaller apples went through no problem. Bucket at bottom with pillow case in it. Then I put it in a household spinner. Left it spinning while I got on with the next lot of pulping. Alas there was a metal taste to the cider which I never noticed when I tasted the juice. I can only put it down to the shredder as the cider I made with previous shredder didn't have a metal taste. If I make cider again I will paint the blades with food safe paint.
