Title: Halls greenhouse door wheels
Post by: Lardman on March 28, 2015, 17:05
The door on my 4x2 lean-to is sticky, very sticky. I've dropped to door off and even the hanger on its own is difficult to slide. I've given everything a good clean, removed the old muck and re-oiled but it's still not playing ball.

The wheels look to be 22mm and are still available, the problem being they are riveted to the hanger rather than bolted. Has anyone replaced similar ? I'm guessing I can just drill out the rivet and replace with a bolt but the last thing I want to do is trash it. It's getting to the stage I worry about pulling the thing apart or shattering the glass just trying to slide the door though.

Just for the record.

The rivets can be drilled out with a 4mm bit. The modern wheels came with bolts slightly smaller so be careful drilling otherwise the hole will be to big for the head to hold - there wasn't enough thread left for washers on the bolts I had.

It's not wonderful but it's certainly better than before.
