Huckleberries
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:57 »
ive seen some seeds on an auction site, and apparently it only take 75 days from seed to harvest, it also says they are very prolific and to treat them like chilli plants. so my question is has anyone grown them, and how did they turn out?

Have a look at this old thread. Appears they did not go down too well!

I do grow it every year just for green berries pickling and leaves for cooking like spinach. It is really good for health and fantastic tasting leaves.
this one I started couple of years ago.

mind you they are weeds. seriously! their seeds have life of about 20 years and birds cant digest them.
whatever you do, dont let the ripe berry drop on the plot.  :)

One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

They take longer than 75 days here, more like 5 months to being ripe. Not really worth the effort!!
