purple carrots & purple sprouts
« on: April 05, 2010, 17:11 »
Anyone tried growing purple haze carrots F1 and / or purple brussels sprouts falstaff? I've been given a packet of each seeds & I'm getting pulled faces at the thoughts of them  :tongue2:  :D Anyone had any joy with these?
Thanks in advance  :)

I grew purple haze last year very tasty and very pretty if grated and put into a salad or coleslaw  :D

I will grow some more just for the novelty factor.

Grew purple carrots last year and they were better size than the orange ones planted at the same time  :D

Tasted good too.

Have got mixed colours this year for school, including yellow and white  :)

I've grown the purple carrots before and I didn't find the taste any different than orange ones. However, to buy them in the shops is a real eye-opener pricewise.

I grew  falstaff purple brussel sprouts a couple of years ago. The ones that were big enough to see were purple. Not bothered since.

Many thanks for all your interesting & enlightening answers. I'll give the carrots a go, unsure about sprouts, maybe 1 or 2, I'll see, thanks again  ;)  :)
