I keep trying different varieties of french beans as well as these every year but im usually disappointed.This years other variety was especially poor but i couldnt resist the flash packet and good write up on it   
Should i stop wasting my money or has someone else grown a variety to rival cobra.

I find the purple Blauhilde pretty reliable too - but will go back to cobra as a green one next year as I like it and it's tasty

My cobra were lousy last year and this (only grew again to use up the seed). This year I also grew Safari which is a dwarf French bean. They have excelled themselves, possibly even out performing the runners. I had 30 plants in total, eaten loads with lots in the freezer, and they are still cropping.

I thought about growing some dwarf beans,are they ready at the same time as the climbers?
Think ive tried the de corona before and they were very tasty,are they from Kings seeds as i m going to try them again.

I have grown Safari (Kenyan bean) for the past 2 years and they are excellent. They come in before the main crop of runners, unless you grow early runners.The beans can be eaten when they are very small, as you see in the supermarket, or left to get a bit bigger. As long as you pick they will crop. I thought mine has finished in July but I did not pull them out. They are now covered in flower and look like they are going to start again.

I grow my Cobra in the greenhouse with the toms and it always puts on a good performance. It gets a bit jungly but I haven't the room in my raised beds for it and always get plenty of tasty beans and they don't curl up the same as outdoors.
