Potatoes
« on: March 25, 2021, 20:45 »
Hello, I have seed potatoes ready for chitting as I do every year.  But this year (2021) for the first time some but not all, have imploded and I have been told they are fermenting.  Can anyone advise on this as this has never happened before?  Thank you.

Welcome to the site  :D

I'm going to pop your question over to the Grow Your Own forum for the veggie growers to have a look at.  Feel free to pop back into the Welcome board to introduce yourself and for a proper welcome  ;)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Welcome!

What variety are they? I know that there have been issues with Lady Christl this year which is why few suppliers were able to deliver the orders.

Another thought is could they have frozen at some point eg: where they delivered in the snowy spell that some of us had.

My neighbour was chitting his in his cold greenhouse, without any extra covering on the cold nights, and the same thing has happened to his - got frosted, then rotted  :(
