Overwintering Cabbages
« on: October 16, 2015, 13:13 »
Hi
I'm new to winter gardening and hope someone may be able to help me.
I have planted cabbages in my allotment - 1st Early Market and Durham Early. Will it be sufficient for me to cover these with veggie-mesh cloche for the winter or should I use a heavy duty fleece cloche.
Thank you

They don't need protecting from the weather, although a mega arctic style freeze can kill them

They only need protecting from pigeons, so any netting you have will be fine  ;)

Mine are covered with Enviromesh and every wire basket I can get my hands on. Pigeons/partridges/pheasants/rabbits/deer/the occasional cow!   :nowink: :D
