Cucumber problem
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:08 »
Morning all

My Qs have started to develop problems on the leaves as per the pics below.
This has come on very quickly.
Does anyone know what the problem is, and what to do?

The problem has spread to another leaf this morning.
Do I remove the infected leaves, the whole plant, or just leave alone?

Thanks in advance.

I do not know what it is, but it does not look good.  I see you have other seedlings there with it, so I would move it away from the others till someone can identify for you.

Thanks.. I think :-(

Ive cut off the diseased leaves for the minute to see how that goes.
My French Marigolds in the greenhouse with the cucumber and Toms suddenly all died  this week. I removed them from the GW as soon as I saw they were dying. They all had a grey/back mold on their stems.
Not looking good as its seems there in no "cure" for botrytis from what I could Google.

keep the greenhouse wide open as much as possible fresh air should help keep it under control - it just loves it when you shut the greenhouse up and it gets misted up inside.

If you don't mind using them RHS suggests spraying with a Bayer product look here

I think the recent wet and dreary weather has done this - just hang in there, as they'll probably recover!

Cuces are so finicky, they sulk if the weather just changes slightly!

They should be fine!

Thanks to all for the advice.
I removed the infected leaves and no other leaves are showing the problem and cucumbers are forming.
Im also venting the greenhouse more despite the wind and rain.
Thanks again.

That's good news Mudge!

We've got some inside, and also will plant some outside!

The outside ones are undergoing a baptism of fire, as it's a bit blowy round here...
