Hi

I have ordered a load of Manure from my local Farmer. It is arriving on the 6th October.

Why should I not spread the manure where I intend to sow Carrots and Parsnips next season.?

What happens to them if I did sow on manured ground?

Yes.  It is the additional nutrients provided by the manure which cause problems for carrot/parsnip.  If all the nutrients had been washed away over the winter, then it would be waste of time spreading it on the ground in Autumn.

Manure is good fertiliser because much of the nutrients are in a non-soluble form.

well as of this year my carrots are in bins, baths, etc and I use a mix of soil/compost and was gonna use manure next year.. defo not now.. cheers
