just picked up a tiller trident any body got any info on this machine
i need a drive belt or drive wheel

I have only ever seen the Trident in a photo.

i have had another look at the trident, it looks as if you have 2 wheels
with a rubber belt on, when you engage the clutch the wheels move together
thus driving tynes. the lower wheel is missing the rubber insert.
i will get some pics on later today.

right then been down the mower repair shop . after a good laugh
i need a belt . so after measuring the distance i ned a 17.5 inch belt
any ideas as the bloke in the mower shop said i have no chance

I don't suppose the laughing boys at the shop could tell you what the part number was, could they?
The link I gave you earlier can supply w28093 (mt329), w300074 (mt3371), w30026 (mt2991).also, if you click on the link and phone them, they will be more than happy to sell you a belt of any size. ;)

i will be on the phone in the morning, i only got the trident to restore
i think im addicted im winning a couple on ebay aswell. i think the wife will go up th pole when she finds another 1 :wacko:

I have avoided the Trident as it is so different to the rest of the Merry Tiller range and was made in comparatively small numbers. My Webb master parts book for 1990 lists a Landmaster which looks quite similar to the Trident, so was the Trident a disguised Landmaster?
I did try to get a Trident belt for a customer a while back and found that most belt manufacturer’s smallest inner circumference A section belt is 19 inch. The Eriks engineers suppliers chain couldn’t do less than 19” on any makes they stock. Since then I have heard of an Asian make, Pix who list down to 15” outside circumference on A section, but can’t find an engineers supplier who stocks them.

Thank you for adding the info you have to this thread....
I am hoping some photos can be posted as I would like to see some closer views of one of these Trident tillers...without bidding on.!!
From photos I have seen the gearbox seems to have only one output and rather than conventional tines used a set that stirred the ground like those giant Fowler Gyrotillers from the vintage farming world...although they worked as a pair of tines..and in a much more major way...
The Landmaster tie up, I think, came in the early 1980s...so after the Trident..??
Webb then listed some existing Landmaster machines in some paperwork..and possibly used existing sales leaflets over stamped.??..I think I recall seeing some.??
..I wish I had rescued more old work papers now.!!..
.....and later the modified Stoic mowers appeared in red under the Atco banner.
There was at the time of the link up a 4 wheel rotary that was badged Landmaster..but seem to think it was labelled as made by Rover Scott Bonner??...from "down under"...no doubt a forerunner of the current very useful Rover mower range that is available in UK these days...
