My end result was to build a raised plinth ... I used 910 x 150 x 50 pre-cast rear edge kerbs, gave me good true edge for profile ...and gained 150mm in height.

FYI -
There is a pic of plinth at:  http://tinyurl.com/63sxtfp

There are those that always like to find fault, if you spot a Typo ... consider put there for you.

Nice job argonaut. Strangely enough I'd been wondering about paving slabs or kerb edges this evening as I sat with my OH watching a very interesting programme on the tv.  ::)

Who was your supplier and were they expensive?

Did you use and angle-grinder to cut them to length?

I had 6 donated for free, and bought the rest  ... cheap enough ... just bought them in local builders merchants .. £3.40 a piece, and Worked out best way to lay them avoiding most cuts ... ended up just having to trim 2 of them, they cut easily with a diamond disc cutter ... 20 secs at most.

I also fixed frame to plinth with angle straps, bolted to frame and screwed into rear face of plinth with stainless steel 1 1/2" screws.

Took care to make sure not only level & plumb, but that outer face was to exact measurements I wanted ... and of course made sure whole thing was square.

Don't do what I did and make is perfectly level, otherwise it makes water collection from the gutters a little bit hit and miss.  ::)
