i've jsut insulated a garage and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on waht boarding to put on the walls.  I don't want to use plasterboard and was thinking of using plywood.  all suggestions welcome.

Hi Puffinstuff.
I think the cheapest board to line it out with would be Hardboard, but not very practical if it's likely to be wetted in anyway?
If so, then I would personaly stick with plywood. Also, if you need to fix anything through to the walls (shelves/hooks/whatever) then plywood is best.

have a price about first  . . . . .  you'll be horrified at what some of them will be charging for different types of wood, ply will be pretty expensive, you should find MDF cheaper and if looks aren't important  and it's just to sandwich the insulation in why not price up some floor board boarding? depends what you need to get out of it i suppose but if you're attaching anything to the walls then a decent thickness MDF will be fine and all the above can still be painted or treated in one way or another to prolong the life.

as grannie says sterling board is probably the cheapest and you can get it in different thicknesses too so you can still put shelves up etc. it is certainly cheaper than the same size plywood.

If you just want the covering then 3.2mm hardboard is cheaper again

I think its called building paper, use this directly on the inside of the walls then line with whatever is cheapest.
