It will be partially buried, about 18 inches above ground, so the chances of frogs getting in there are pretty slim

Maybe something in keeping with any plants you are putting your pond. Grasses, Iris, heucheras, and maybe one or two annuals so you can ring the changes. It will also be a place for insects and maybe either frogs or toads to hide in. Don't forget to put something in the pond at the edge like a stone or a piece of log so they can get out if needed.
