Is it to late to make a Christmas pudding for this year. I decided last week to make a Christmas cake and its turned out to be very nice (made a little one to test as well) so im thinking I might knock a pudding up but is it to late or does it really need to be done months in advance? whats the opinions please.

I made one for the first time this year and it is supposed to be allowed to mature but it is still 3 weeks to Christmas so have a go.

I dont think its too late at all.

When i make ours i do a little one as well, just like you did with your cake.  I steam it with the big pud and we eat it hot straight from the steamer that evening.  It always tastes fine to me with some nice custard on it :blink:
 It's just one thing that can be done in advance and got out of the way

Go for it!  I hardly ever got mine done weeks in advance and no-one every complained about the flavour

I always do Delia's but i do change the booze she uses as barley wine is hard to find. Also my book was given to me at Christmas 1981, not sure if shes changed the recipe since then

When pushed for time I have a microwave pudding recipe, which with a little booze in, tastes just as nice as traditional puds, but doesn't keep as well.

Doesn't keep long in our house anyway! lol

You can eat Christmas pud anytime of the year as it's so good    I'd definitely make one. I'd make two, even better

Well ive made One Two..... I wasnt sure how much I would need for my size of pudding bowl but the recipe I followed gave me plenty to make a very large one and a small one that will feed maybe 2 people as a tester before the big day. Kitchens a bit steamy at the moment but the fingers are crossed that all will be well.  :blink:

Well according to my chief Christmas pudding taster (my daughter) the test pudding is a roaring success, it has a very light texture and is nice and moist without being all sticky and heavy, however it does need a bit of a feed with Rum or brandy......or both  :blink:
