I am lucky enough to have my coop in a stable for the winter.
Since i moved the coop indoors a few weeks ago I haven't closed up the ramp as I do close the stable securely. However after reading a few posts about rats etc I was wondering if I should close the ramp. One of my chooks has decided since the move to roost on top of the coop which I didn't mind as they are indoors but what would I do with her if I do have to start closing up the ramp.
It is handy not closing it as it means the chooks can roam in the stable until I open up in the morning.
What predators could get at them in the stable!

i think if that was me i would close up the coop it may be convenient to keep it open but for peace of mind i would close the coop i guess that anything could get in if it was determined!

See warning posted re stoats etc (today). We have a similar situation (coop in shed) and birds will try to sleep on top. Auto pop-hole keeps out big predators, but I tuck them up and put the roof dwellers on the perches at nightfall.
