Update: Day 5 in broody cage!  :nowink:  :nowink:

Arhhh!

I don't think I am any further along!  :(

Betsy is still in the broody cage.

I left her in the cage for two nights and only let her out to see what she would do.  After two nights in the cage i noticed that when she was let out the other chickens starting chasing her and pecking like she was a new hen.  So last night I let her back in the coop, with the nextboxes closed off,  where she perched from about 6 o'clock until i had to lift her out about 9 this morning. She did eat but wanted back into the coop to perch, so I lifted her back into the cage. Where she is now sitting all puffed up with tail down!!!!
Anyother ideas or is this normal  ::)
The only good thing is at least i get to hold her a bit now! :)

We had 2 bantams that went broody at the same time and both had raised chicks the previous month.
What we did was allow them an hour longer in the coop than the rest of the flock and then lifted them out and closed the coop for a few hours. It took almost 10 days  but they stopped being broody eventually.  Of course they still sulk and we haven't had any eggs off them for ages!!
3 dogs now, 2 passed RIP Poppy and Paige, one wonderful husband and a new adventure on this wonderful island
