leek seed
« on: September 20, 2013, 22:36 »
The leeks I have kept for seed now have small leeks growing from the seed case in the actually flower and when I open a closed flower the seed is green and not black. The flowers have been in bloom for several months now.
Has the seed gone over and will now germinate and could I cut  them down to dry for planting next year?

Thanks
Dmg

I am not an expert but from what I have heard carefully transplant the little leeks growing from the flower head  :)
I cook therefore I grow

Sparky is right and so are you, they have gone over and germinated in situ, plant them up when they  can be handled.

I'd have not much hope for storing quality of most, but by all means try with those that seem dry.
