She usually 'allows' two cobs per plant, removing any others as well as the stalks that sprout from the bottom on some varieties.

If you have a few small cobs waiting to grow into something they probably won't,  so keep an eye on them - keep watering them and see what happens, that what I say -  you have nothing to lose leaving them and hoping for the best. They can go on the compost heap later.
Keep the plot cultivated, that's the best way to ensure its future.

My sweetcorn have been terrible this year - too dry I think. I'll dig a lot more stuff into the ground before planting next year. And I'll grow loads more - the few cobs I got were delicious.
The plants all in the compost heap now.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

My sweetcorn are poor too this year, but I think its because where they are is the wettest place on the plot.  All the run off water seems to go that way.  I've picked a couple of cobs off as the hairs have gone brown, but the cobs are still almost white.

Just been blanching sweetcorn - and eating it - wonderful.
After a ropy start it got off well - although I used a urea booster.
Most of the kernals have formed - some wonderful big cobs, so sweet.
Still got lots of cobs that are not quite ready. :)

No luck for me, im afraid. Second year of trying. I planted the sweetcorn in a block, supposedly to increase the chances of pollination, but i think the block was too compact. Plenty of cobs, but only part formed.

Shame, its the wifes favourite. Think i will get it right next year.

Is there anything i can do with half formed cobs?

Hi Zak the rabbit - feed the cobs to your GPs - mine have been really enjoying the duff cobs and the husks off the good cobs, tassles'n'all.

My sweetcorn has been as good as it has ever been this year.  I gave the plants a helping hand with pollination on still days by giving the stems a good flick and watching clouds of dusty pollen wafting down onto the cobs - superb!
Gardening organically on chalky, stony soil.

I think i will feed them to Dylan. Not sure if Freddy the rabbit can have them yet, hes still only about 9 or 10 weeks old.

I helped the pollination along the same way, but i didnt have sufficient spacing between plants in the block, so not enough pollen got down the stems.

I wont make the same mistake next year
