Chicken manure pellets
« on: June 08, 2009, 18:58 »
I have a container in the garden of chicken manure pellets (can't remember how long its been there...) and we are considering putting some on the allotment - do you think this will be ok?  My Dad has reservations about doing it as he seems to remember reading/hearing somewhere that its not a good idea putting chicken muck on your allotment/garden.  Please advise.

http://www.allotment-garden.org/fertilizer/index.php

don't know if this has posted OK Piccolo, but I was directed to this on the site when I enquired about a fertilizer question - and found it to be a very good and informative read.

guess it depends on what you're growing, but the info is there on fertilizers. Good luck :)

Chicken pong is great for most crops other than parsnips and carrots which don't need it.  ;)

Thankyou all for your help and the useful article.  I'll dodge the carrots and try it on a percentage of the rest.  As for the smell of the stuff, the lid hasn't been off for ages so its probably going to be reeeeaaaaaaally gross!!!

My sweet corn looked like it was on the way out a couple of weeks back till I treated it to plenty of the chicken manure pellets and lots of water and they are now really healthy growing fast. :D
Can you hear voices?
